Bai Plu and Aki Sushi Bar has the best of both world, Thai and Sushi. I used to work at this restaurant and on my day off I come in for dinner (not because I get discounts). One of my favorite dishes I can't get in most Thai restaurant is the "Kra Paow Kai Yeaw Ma" (Mint leave and garlic Preserved Eggs).
Break Down:
Food = 5 Stars (almost everything is good)
Atmosphere = 5 Stars (large restaurant, entertains large groups)
Service = 5 Stars (it was 6 stars when I was working there)

You want authentic Thai Food? You've got to try Thai Basil. Thai Basil's food and service was beyond my expectation. Their food taste very similar to large Thai restaurants in Thailand. The owner, Khun Gomon, picked out great dishes for our group. We had Wonton Skin served with sweet & sour sauce, Satay Chicken (tasted like satay in Thailand), Shrimp Rolls (shrimp wrapped in wonton skin), Fish in chili and lime dressing (Awesome!), Pineapple Fried Rice, Hormok (seafood curry served in young coconut), Garlic Chicken (another awesome dish), Pad Kapraw Beef (pretty good), Mixed Vegetable (which was gone before I get to try), and a complimentary Mango with Sticky Rice. Local Thai Food will definitely host another event at Thai Bail.
Food = 5 Stars (Each dish were decorated very nicely, but taste is the best part.)
Service = 5 Stars (Fast and prompt)
Ambiance = 5 Stars (comfortable and clean)

I finally got to try Jumpa Thai Cuisine after passing by on several occasions. I never stopped by before because I have “Nonauthenticthaifoodphobia” especially from large restaurants. However, I wanted to give Jumpa Thai a try because I heard many good things about it. Here are my takes on Jumpa Thai Cuisine.
Ambiance = 5 stars
Jumpa Thai was very spacious and clean. It is a rather new restaurant (open in 2005). The decor is modern and well lit.
Food = 5 stars
I love going out to eat with a group of friends because I get to try lots of different dishes. We ordered;
Tom Yum Noodles - I'm usually not a big fan of Tom Yum Noodle soup but this was surprisingly good!
BBQ Beef Salad - The BBQ Beef Salad was pretty darn good even though it was not made the way we do in Thailand. The BBQ beef was perfectly seared and the sauce was just right. It's was the best dish of the night.
Spicy Raw Shrimp Salad – OMG! The Spicy Raw Shrimp was incredible. I didn't expect to find this dish outside of Thai town. Not too many Thai restaurants make Spicy Raw Shrimp Salad because only Thais order it. I'm so glad I don't have to drive all the way to Hollywood to get this dish. Spicy Raw Shrimp Salad is not hard to make, but you can ruin it if you don't use fresh ingredients.
Shrimp Salad – Same sauce as the beef salad, pretty good.
Pad See Eau Noodles (Pad See Ew) – Awesome, tastes just like Pad See Ew in Thailand.
Seafood Fried Rice – Good variety of seafood and pretty large portion.
Spicy Lime Steamed Fish – It wouldn't be fair for me to rate this dish because I was stuffed by the time it come out. (We were warned by the waiter, but we ordered it anyway)
We sealed the deal with Young Coconut with Ice Cream – Jumpa Thai's food is great but you need to save room for the Coconut ice cream! You will regret it if you don't.
Service = 4 Stars
Overall, the service was pretty good. It was lacking at the beginning when we asked for drinks, but it picked up once we started ordering food. One thing I really like about the service was our waiter warned us that there is a 20 min wait if we order the Spicy Lime Steamed Fish (I appreciate small gestures).

Wow! I haven't had Authentic Thai food like Jitlada in a while. I've heard a lot about this place, but never had a chance to try it until today. My last "real" Thai food was at Ord Noodle in Hollywood http://www.localthaifood.com/restaurant/details/&id=689.
As soon as I walked inside Jitlada I knew I was in for a treat. Awards and articles hanging everywhere, special dishes written in Thai (a good sign). We were seated promptly when the section was cleared for us. Our group of 40+ (L.A. Sushi and Asian Foodies) broke up into 5 tables and sat according to their spice level. My table (hottest level) seated 9 people at an 8 persons table. It was a bit cozy but I didn't mind. We waited about 30 minutes to order food (keep in mind that 5 large tables came in all at once). When we finally got to order our food we took the opportunity to order everything we wanted. Our food list consist of: Beef Salad, Steamed Mussel, Garlic and Pepper Shrimp, Fried Sea bass with Mango (my favorite), Mango Salad, Chicken Panang, some sort of beef curry, Soft Shell Crab in Curry Sauce, Pad Thai Chicken, Glass Noodle Salad, and the Bangkok Duck.
After about 5 - 10 minutes the first dish arrived, the second, the third, then the forth... We should have ran out of space on the table after the sixth dish but we never did. Each plate was cleared by the time it gets to the opposite end of the table. When we were done with our main course, Jazz (Jitlada's owner) complimented us with Mango & Sticky Rice and a large bowl of Thai Shaved Ice (Thank you! Jazz). Jitlada's food is by far the most Authentic Thai food I've had in Los Angeles.
Break Down:
Food = 5 Stars - Very Authentic, large selection of food, rare Southern Thai food.
Service = 3 Stars - Service was extremely slow, often forget to bring requested items and we constantly have to ask for more water. However, Jazz was very hospitable which earned 1 whole star. (The fact that 5 large tables came in at once was considered.)
Ambiance = 5 Stars - Clean and well lit but wasn't too bright.

My co-workers and I were working in the Charter Oak area and wanted some Thai food for lunch. We came across Lucky Elephant down the street in San Dimas. The first thing I noticed about Lucky Elephant when I walk through the door was the Thai style roof over the booth area. The whole decoration of the place was really well put together.
We had to wait a few minutes before the waitresses realized we were waiting for a table. Other than that the service was great. They even stopped by and ask if the food was okay (I like it when waitresses do that).
We ordered the Chinese Broccoli and Crispy Pork (one of my favorites), a bowl of Tom Kah Kai soup (Chicken Coconut Soup), BBQ chicken, and Pad Kra Pow Beef (aka Mint leave beef in some restaurants).
The Broccoli and Crispy Pork was great, the crispy pork were cut to perfect size and the sauce was not too salty like some restaurants.
Tom Kah Kai was also good, it wasn't too sweet.
BBQ Chicken was just okay.
Last but not least was the Pad Kra Pow Beef, which was made with ground beef (the way it's suppose to be made). Overall flavor of Pad Kra Pow Beef was "good" (better than a lot of place).
Break Down:
Food = 5 Stars (Lucky elephant tries to be as Authentic as they can and I applause them for it.)
Ambiance = 5 Stars (Very nice design, almost felt like I was eating outside if you minus the sealing.)
Service = 4.5 Stars (They would have gotten 5 starts if they didn't blow it at the beginning.)

Today was the first time I went back to Ruen Pair since their remodel. The restaurant is almost doubled in size with nicer decorations. I've forgoten how good their food is. Today I ordered the Namtok pork, Tom Yum Koong, and the Black eggs with fried basil.
Break Down:
Food = 5 Stars (everything was great!)
Atmosphere = 5 Stars (the restaurant was clean and comfortable seating)
Service = 5 Stars (the waitress kept pouring water even when we were done eating)

Long Beach Thai Restaurant is down the street from my house. My friends and I always meet here for Boat Noodle. Long Beach Thai is known for their noodle but that's not the only thing that's good here. Their Nam Tok is to die for along with their Fried Pomano fish. Let's just say I haven't been disappointed with their food yet.

My aunt and I went to this restaurant today. We had Fried Tofu ($4.95), Mint leave with chili and garlic ground pork ($7.95), and Gang Som Pla (fish curry $8.95). We told them to make it "Thai intense" and they did just that. The mint leave was perfect, just the right amount of spice and enough food for 2 people. It's almost like Pad Kra Paow in Thailand. Gang Som Pla was too spicy for me but my aunt loved it. Fried Tofu was fried tofu...
Break Down:
5 stars for food (Very authentic, large amount)
2 stars for atmosphere and location (A bit run down and little bit dirty)
3 stars for service

Great place to get lunch or dinner. I love the L-20 (Lunch special spicy spaghetti) but I can never finish it.
