What is Local Thai Food?
The answer is pretty simple: spicy and delicious Thai food so close you can smell it! Well, maybe not that close, but close enough to fill yourself on great food, and fast. You see, LocalThaiFood.com's job is to help you find Thai restaurants that are in your immidiate area, or as close as possible, and to help you choose the one that best fits your Thai food needs.
Why Thai Food?
That's a great question. Now here's a great answer: we like Thai food. Well actually, we love Thai food. And we love Thai food so much that we think you should love it too. And so it's our goal to force everybody to love Thai food to provide everyone who loves Thai food - or anyone who loves food in general - with a fast and easy way to find the food they love.
Who Loves Thai Food? (The Staff)
We do! And we hope you do too - or, at least we hope you will soon! Anyways, LocalThaiFood.com is run by just a few of us locals here in Southern California and we'd love to meet you!
Chris (Founder/Photographer):
Even though Chris may appear to be your average SoCal Thai food enthusiast, his passion for the stuff runs much deeper because well, he's Thai. That's right, Chris was born and raised in Thailand before ultimately ending up here on the West Coast to pursue academic studies. And you know that has to make him some sort of Thai food expert! Okay, well maybe not exactly, but with over 6 years experience working in the Thai food industry, you can bet he knows his stuff!
"Within any group of friends you'll find many different characters, and each character has a function. Every group has at least one joker, always cracking people up, and there's also always a leader. He's the one who organizes everything and takes charge. And then there's the adventurous one. That's me! The adventurous one is the person that people turn to when they need the down-low on new experiences, and in my case, where to eat and what to order. I'm always exploring, finding new restaurants, new foods, and new tastes. I may not find all of the new and exciting restaurants, but you can count on my LOVE for food and my passion for experiencing new things to lead you to a whole lot of great eating places! In fact, there were a couple of times my roommate, Mel, called me from a Thai restaurant (one I had taken him to in the past) and he asked me to order food for him and his friends over the phone with the waiter. This cracks me up every time I think about it...
And so I thought, I love doing this for my friends, why not do it for everyone? That's when I decided to start LocalThaiFood.com. I'm very proud to have created LocalThaiFood.com and I hope that all Thai food goers/lovers will become a part of our wonderful community. So please, spread the word!"
Cookie (Co-Founder/Accountant):
Cookie was born and raised in Thailand before moving to the United States to pursue academics as a foreign exchange student at Cal State Long Beach, and is an avid lover of Thai food and strives to enhance and advance the awareness of Thai food to her local community.
"For many years, I have overlooked Thai food. Because for me, I can find a tasty Thai dish anywhere I go in Thailand. But living in the United State is different. I find myself craving Thai food a lot which never happened before. Since I am not familiar with California, it is hard to find Thai restaurants in my area.
Also, Thai food is getting more and more popular here in Southern California because of its exotic taste. Therefore, LocalThaiFood.com is a useful tool for Thai food lovers and a good source for those who have never tried Thai food to splash into an ocean of fresh, fiery, and titillating tastes. LocalThaiFood.com means: easy access to Thai food information for everyone, everywhere."
Adam (Lead Programmer/Web Designer):
Local to Southern California, Adam graduated with a B.S. in Information & Computer Science from UCI in July of 2005. He has lived in SoCal all his life, but has made a point to travel and see as much of the world as possible (including Europe, South America and Japan). A definite food lover, he has eaten a lot of different food during his travels. Here's what he has to say about Thai food:
"My first experience with Thai food was of course Pad Thai, which was great, but the first time I truly fell in love with Thai cuisine was when I first had Yellow Curry. I can't get enough of the stuff. My sudden passion for the exoticly spiced food naturally created a desire to find some local Thai restaurants for me to get my fix. That's what makes being a part of LocalThaiFood.com such a pleasure. It's nice to know that there is always some local Thai food I can find whenever I need to calm the cravings."
